FAQs
Why rugs?
I build rugs as functional art. They are like paintings that you can stand, or lay on, or just hang on the wall. I enjoy working with wool and other materials that are non-toxic and biodegradable.
How to care for my rug?
Your rug is made of wool, and maybe just a bit of polyester pulled through a burlap base. All materials have been washed and dried in a machine washer and dryer before the rug was built. It can be (and has been) vacuumed to remove dust. IIt can be spot cleaned as you would clean a garment made of these materials.
How can I really clean my rug?
First, shake off any loose dirt. The best way to clean a handmade rug is to put it face down in dry snow, brush more snow on top of the rug and let sit for 20-30 minutes. Brush off the snow, shake it well, and beat any remaining snow off with a broom or rug beater.
How long will my rug last?
A well-cared for rug can be passed on for generations. Keep it clean and out of direct sunlight to reduce fading.
I
Can I walk on it?
Yes please! Gently pull it off the frame and put it on the floor. Of course this may reduce its lifespan.
How to store/move my rug?
Ensure that it is dry and clean. Seal it in an airtight plastic bag with air removed.
What are you working on now?
My current themes are artificial intelligence, Canadiana, and other explorations. Drop me a line if you have ideas about collaboration.
