What's done is done?

How do you finish what you start? Do you simply put it aside, and begin anew? Or can you maintain the focus required to complete every aspect of it? How to truly call it finished?

For me, projects sometimes linger. These almost finished projects get pushed aside for the new idea, or new colours, materials, or something else that tends to take over. That final 2% of the project is often the most difficult. I do have many completed projects, but more than a few of my rugs need some finishing touches.

Matmul and The Secret of Creation are currently rolled up on the bookshelf, waiting for their final steps - getting ready for display. They are both so big that stretching frames might make them excessively heavy, so I've decided to go with the traditional method of attaching a sleeve on the back into which a pole can be slid and mounted to a wall. Of course these could also go on a floor, but the sleeves provide the future owners with options.

For the sleeves, material must be sourced, sewn and then hand sewn to the rug backs. In order to accomplish this, I need to line up a series of tasks that require organization and followthrough. Since my studio is my house, I need to source the material, clear the kitchen table, unpack my sewing machine, cut, iron, and sew the material, and then hand sew it to the rug backs. Update! The last task is literally at hand! Sleeves are sewn, just need to be attached.
