This is my take on 15 images from Walter Russell's collection of "new-world thought". His main tenet is that the belief of some kind of higher power (God) must be imbued within scientific thought.
As I hooked these beautiful images, my mind wandered and wondered about how far we've come to come up with 'universal' truths, or 'facts' that are agreed upon by the scientific community. I have not landed on any theories that stuck with me, but what I did realize is that the truths that we study, or science that describes this, that, and the universe may have more to it than what we can see, touch, feel and measure. As we have feelings of things before they happen or think of someone just before seeing them, I do believe that there are energies in the universe that we may not yet be able to measure. Perhaps these energies are what Russell depicted in these images?
It's also one of my largest work yet at 36" x 54", but it's not quite finished just yet. The edging still needs a bit of work, and if you look at the image closely, you may see where I left a 'placeholder' for a missing loop of material that I will complete when the rug finds it's true home.
